The Story Behind the Song — “Your Seventh Day”

“Your Seventh Day” was inspired by the story of Jericho in Joshua 6, but I wanted to tell it from a slightly different perspective—the priests who simply had to keep marching.

For six days, they walked around the walls of Jericho carrying the Ark of the Covenant. Seven priests carried ram’s-horn shofars before the Ark. There was no battle cry and no great speech from the people. They marched in silence, with the sound of the horns breaking through the quiet.

And day after day, nothing seemed to happen.

The walls were still there. No cracks. No visible evidence that their obedience was accomplishing anything. Yet God had given His instructions, so they kept walking.

Then came the seventh day.

This time they circled Jericho seven times. At Joshua’s command the people shouted, the trumpets sounded—and the walls came down. Rahab and her family were spared, just as they had been promised.

That story speaks to something we still experience today. Sometimes God asks us to keep going when we can't see any results. We pray, obey and take another step, yet the wall in front of us looks exactly the same.

“Your Seventh Day” is a song about that space between God's promise and seeing it fulfilled.

Faith isn't always watching walls fall. Sometimes faith is walking around the same wall again, trusting God when nothing appears to be changing.

You may be on your second trip around the wall.
You may be on your sixth.

Keep walking.

Your seventh day may be closer than you think.
